Living above a church meant a covenant, not a leas Living above a church meant a covenant, not a lease, and a massive cross in the basement along with the cobwebs. Hymnals propped up leaning furniture, and the smell of extinguished candles filtered up reliably every Sunday at 6.  Despite all the rules, I have fond memories of my time in UCM and the people I spent that time with.
The images of this project were interspersed with The images of this project were interspersed with text from my housemate's dissertation. She wrote about church architecture and its linguistic function- again, a testament to the impact of place. I enjoyed collaborating with her while we lived in this unique place. Though neither of us are Methodist, the warmth of the church community added a unique layer to our college experience.

This was the first time I realized how much the intersection of space, policy, and people captivated me. Now, I'm going into real-estate law to continue exploring that theme. I remember staying up all night printing and arranging these images, trying to figure out how to visually communicate what was so clear in my head- places have power, and people and policy bring places to life.

She aims to bring attention to the complexities and nuances of Mississippi, drawing viewer attention to the bonds between people and the environment, just like the threads of her signature style. The result is an emotionally stirring body of work that provokes thought about the people and the places of the Mississippi.

This one pushed me a LOT and I'm still not certain This one pushed me a LOT and I'm still not certain I'm satisfied with it. I restitched it 3 times! However, I think it's better to try new techniques even if they aren't as successful as you imagine.
